Museo delle Gallerie del Parco Nazionale delle Colline Metallifere a Gavorrano

Gavorranno is home to one of the entrances to the National Park of the Metalliferous Hills, established in 2003 to preserve the long history of the steel industry and the mining activities which have characterized this area over the millennia.
The Mining Museum is hosted inside a Tunnel previously used as a deposit for explosives. The exhibition route offers an immersion into the various phases of the mining activity, presenting the ambient conditions and the strenuous work inside the mine through images, sounds, stories and anecdotes.
From the Museum exit the visitor gains access to Teatro delle Rocce, located in a small semi-circular quarry carved into the rock at the foot of the large San Rocco quarry. This multi-functional space is designed for hosting shows, festivals and cultural events, and has a seating capacity of 2000.
