Centro di documentazione

The documentation centre is home to a rich exhibition of archaeological finds, tracing the different eras of life of the area of Rocca di Scarlino from the Bronze age to the 17th century. The exhibition not only displays archaeological materials but also provides educational materials on the key monuments and archaeological sites of the area. The most significant exhibits include the treasure of Scarlino with 100 gold coins of the 15thcentury, found in a jar inside the wall of the rectory of Rocca. The Centre offers guided tours and educational workshops inside the museum and in the adjacent archaeological area of Rocca di Scarlino. The latter, last stronghold of the castle village of Scarlino, reveals not only the imposing castle-like structure, restored in the 15th century, but also the surrounding archaeological excavations. In summer, the interior of the Rocca transforms into a fascinating stage for music and theatre.
