This beautiful seaside resort is located at the southern tip of the gulf of Follonica situated in the municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia. At the tip of the homonymous promontory, its transformation into a well-known tourist destination began in the 1970s. This change was encouraged by the construction of a state-of-the-art tourist port, the Marina of Punta Ala, dedicated to sailing competitions organised by the prestigious local Yacht Club. The latter continues to enjoy fame among sailing enthusiasts, having been the birthplace of Luna Rossa.
