Il Padule

This marshland which extends over 140 hectares is the only one remaining of a much larger marshland reduced to the current dimensions by several land reclamations over the years. Today, it represents a great natural resource for Northern Maremma thanks to the presence of specific birds, some of which are exceedingly rare, such as the sedge warbler or bittern. This feature makes this an important destination for birdwatchers.
It is open to visitors via an elevated pathway which starts from the former Hydraulic Tollgate of Puntone di Scarlino and takes visitors through all areas of the Marshland. It is possible to reach the area by car along the Provincial Road of Collacchie or along the pedestrian and cycle lane which goes eastwards from the seafront of Follonica.
