Chiesa di San Leopoldo

This church was commissioned by Grand duke Leopold II between 1823 and 1841 and is one of the few buildings in the world to feature important elements made of cast iron, bearing witness to the historical importance of this material for the area of Maremma. Some elements of the interior furnishings are made of cast iron, such as the base of the pulpit, balustrade of the presbytery, different columns, and candelabras of the high altar.
The last restoration, conducted in 1998, enhanced the ancient splendour of the church, earning itself the title of “National Monument”.
