It returns for its 16th edition "I luoghi del tempo", the festival that for years has dressed the Maremma with a series of events in some of its most evocative places. A combination of sounds, stories, and flavors, including narrative walks, live performances, meetings with artists, writers, and concerts, readings, civil theater, and scientific dissemination.
The festival will kick off on Friday, May 29th in Pian di Rocca, in the municipality of Castiglione della Pescaia, with a special evening dedicated to the 100th anniversary of Dario Fo's birth. The protagonists will be Jacopo Fo, who will accompany the audience on the short story walk “How is it to be the son of Franca Rame and Dario Fo”, and Paolo Jannacci, in concert at sunset in one of the most evocative rural places on the Maremma coast.
On Saturday, May 30, the festival will move to Casal di Pari, in the municipality of Civitella Paganico, for a day dedicated to poetry and singer-songwriter music in collaboration with the Gabinetto Viesseux. Guido Catalano will lead a poetic walk together with scholar Rosalba De Filippis, while Cristina Donà and Saverio Lanza will present “Ogni volo piercitto”, a musical reading dedicated to the poet Margherita Guidacci with the involvement of the Menura Vocal Ensemble.
On Sunday, May 31st, the visitor center of the Roselle Archaeological Park will host one of the festival's most anticipated events: “The Last Temptation of Christ”, a meeting between Antonio Spadaro, Pierluigi Di Pasquale, and Tommaso Ragno, dedicated to the relationship between spirituality, cinema, and literature. The evening will continue with a concert by Fuori dal Comune and a screening of the film “The Gospel According to Cinema”, a collage of famous films about the Passion of Jesus directed by Pierluigi Di Pasquale and Cristiano Gazzarrini.
On Monday, June 1st, Villa La Castellaccia, Pietro Citati's historic home nestled in the Gavorrano countryside and frequented over the years by intellectuals and writers such as Italo Calvino, Carlo Fruttero, and Federico Fellini, will become the center of an evening dedicated to contemporary literature. Carlotta Fruttero, Margherita Oggero, and Dario Voltolini will be present, along with actor Lorenzo Degl'Innocenti and guitarist Giuseppe Scarpato, for a musical reading dedicated to Carlo Fruttero's stories, celebrating the 100th anniversary of his birth.
On Tuesday, June 2nd, the village of Sticciano will host a day dedicated to David Riondino. Ugo Dighero will accompany the audience on a walk inspired by “Francesco Jullare di Dio”, while Chiara Riondino, Francesca Breschi and Fabio Battistelli will perform “Il Cantico dei Cantici”, a musical project conceived by David Riondino himself.
After a short break, the festival will resume on Friday, June 5th at the Rocca degli Alberti in Monterotondo Marittimo with an evening in homage to Paolo Poli. Pino Strabioli will present his “Sempre fiori mai un fioraio”, while Maria Cassi and Leonardo Brizzi will perform “E lasciatemi divertire!”, a show dedicated to the great Florentine actor and theatre man based on texts by Palazzeschi.
On Saturday, June 6th, the Torniella Ironworks in Roccastrada will welcome geologist and popularizer Mario Tozzi for a walk dedicated to the environmental and geological issues of the Colline Metallifere area. The evening will continue with “Puccini in Maremma”, opera arias with Simona Parra, Claudio Rocchi and Silvia Gasperini.
On Sunday, June 7, the Terrarossa industrial archaeology site in Scarlino will host actor Valerio Aprea and singer-songwriter The Niro, protagonists of an evening that will combine contemporary reflection and singer-songwriter music in one of the festival's most evocative locations.
On Friday, June 12, on the occasion of the eighth centenary of the death of Saint Francis, the convent of the Santissima Trinità alla Selva, in the municipality of Santa Fiora, will welcome Ascanio Celestini with the walk-show “Rumba. The Donkey and the Ox”, followed by the medieval concert “Altissima Luce” of the Theatrum Instrumentorum, an ensemble specialized in early European and Mediterranean music.
On Saturday, June 13, the Cosa Archaeological Park in Ansedonia will host a meeting between Giobbe Covatta and the festival audience with “The Moved Traveler Discovering Africa”, while the musical portion will be performed by singer-songwriter Jole Canelli.
The sixteenth edition of the festival will conclude on Wednesday, June 17, in the garden of the Grand Ducal Palace of Follonica with a grand final evening dedicated to art and classical music. Benedetta Colombo, a popularizer known to social media audiences as “Artefacile”, will accompany the audience on a cultural walk, followed by a concert by the Symphony Orchestra “City of Grosseto”, conducted by Murat Cem Orhan, with the young violinist Leone Pini as soloist.
