It is with great pleasure that the City of Follonica hosts the exhibition of Giuseppe Linardi, a renowned artist who – through his art – prompts reflection on many pressing issues of our time. One of these is undoubtedly change, which today demands urgent consideration from all of us, including us as local administrators. We are called to confront the past, the present, and the future, striving to be ready for the new challenges ahead.
We live in an era of profound transformation: technology is evolving at an astonishing pace, the climate is sending increasingly clear signals, and our way of life is constantly being tested by ongoing change. Transformation touches every aspect of society: institutions, towns and cities, the environment, human rights, younger generations, injustices, and suffering – even those that seem distant but in truth affect us all, every day.
Addressing these issues through the communicative power of art is an extraordinary way to raise awareness and foster a shared sense of responsibility. It is a valuable stimulus for reflection – not only for experts and art lovers but also for anyone who happens to encounter a work of art. It’s a moment of reflection for us administrators, too.
Linardi’s works guide us in a deep contemplation of the present, urging us not to remain indifferent, not to passively accept what is happening, but to take an active and conscious role in shaping change.
We thank Giuseppe Linardi for this important exhibition. We hope it contributes meaningfully to the discussion of fundamental values such as peace, inclusion, environmental respect, and human dignity.
This is one of the purposes of art: to open our eyes and our hearts, helping us build a better tomorrow.
